Group and private sessions offering advice on water safety and swim technique
Pool, lake, sea, river, canal, lido. If it’s deep enough to swim in I’ll want to be in it.
Swimming keeps me fit but more than that it lifts me. Being in water calms my often anxious mind and helps me to refocus on what is important in my life rather than what is demanding most of my attention and occupying my thoughts.
Swimming in the fresh air in open water boosts my mood like nothing else. I want everyone to feel like this and to love the water.
I’ve swum since I was a child and now swim year round at the beach in Southend. I took up triathlon when I turned 40, discovered open water swimming and completed two half Ironman races. Moving into something swimming related was the obvious choice of career change when I was unexpectedly made redundant from a 30 year corporate career in banking. Swimming back then was just my hobby and my passion; my go-to activity to relieve the stress of long hours and City commuting. I knew when I was made redundant that I wanted to retrain to professionally help others to learn to swim and share my passion for being in and around water.
I’ve helped many people over the years build their confidence in the pool or helped them overcome a fear of swimming in the sea or lake for the first time. Seeing someone smile with delight just for being in the water and asking when they can swim again fills me with joy.
If you want to learn a new skill; improve your technique; overcome a fear of water; overcome any anxiety around water; experience swimming outdoors safely; gain confidence to enable you to experience and enjoy a growing range of fun, water-based activities; to enter that swim event you’ve always wanted to try; to enter your first triathlon; or to simply swim happily on holiday - then I can help you in achieving that goal and will support you all of the way. Everyone should be able to say they’ve gone for a swim. If you can’t, I can help you.
